BACKGROUND: it's massive I'm very sorry

PERSONALITY:

Trafalgar Law's base temperament sits on the intersection of “sullen and unfriendly" and “smugly irreverent." The young captain (and doctor) of the Heart Pirates, Law is very serious about his own goals, but doesn't care very much about people's unless there's some common goal involved. Thus, he's shown quite uncooperative with the Marines, even after becoming one of the Shichibukai (seven notorious pirates granted immunity by the World Government in exchange for assisting the Marines when they are asked to do so. Despite working for the government many of them are still incredibly shady as fuck.), but has on several occasions assisted other pirates, purely because he felt like it. He's got no respect for authority and shares the ambition of most pirates of finding One Piece (the legendary treasure trove of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger,) for the power it holds. Though he's seeking power, it's not for his own benefit so much as much as taking it away from the people who don't deserve it. Throughout the series Law shows little concern for his own benefit, as much as he's not highly respectful of others. He may be surly and difficult, but deep down Law is the sort who really cares about other people. After all, he was a doctor before he was ever any sort of pirate.

He's certainly far from stoic, more and more so the longer he hangs around Luffy and his Straw Hat pirates who are frankly ridiculous and most of the time have Law grimacing with varying levels of incredulity. He's a very cut-and-dry and realistic person, so Luffy's reckless idealism often puts him at a loss for words. Law has seen a lot of unpleasant things in his relatively young life, and it's caused him to close himself off to others and rebel against whoever he sees as responsible. He's very mission focused and doesn't stop for anything he considers a waste of his time (such as when the rest of the crew were lamenting the death of the climbing dragon construct, he and Zoro both dismissed it as pointless and were already moving on.) When Law sets out to do something, he has a plan, and he tries to stick to it. That said, when things inevitably do go wrong, he adjusts quickly, figures out what he has to do NOW and does it. It's a excellent skill to have as a captain, and between his quick strategic thinking, high ambitions, and incredibly dangerous devil fruit ability, it's unsurprising that he has one of the highest known bounties in the series.

When he's not in one of his frequent moods, Law has shown to be a smirking asshole with a very “fuck the police and also everyone else" attitude, complete with edgelord tattoos on his fingers spelling out “DEATH." Imagine a rebellious teenager who's also a very good doctor and that's basically what we're dealing with here. Law aims high, taking on the powerful Donquixote Doflamingo (If you're wondering what someone with a name like that even looks like, imagine a pro wrestler from the 1980s fused with a douchey frat boy, except 10ft tall. More importantly, he was another Shichibukai, king of the country of Dressrosa, and Law's mortal enemy.) and now setting his sights on even bigger targets. It's understandable, given he's grown up hating the government for what they let happen to his home country. Again, he has no respect for authority. However, anyone he works with or who works under him he is at least respectful towards, if not polite. Despite his demeanor, his crew seems to absolutely adore him, greeting him excitedly when they reunited on Zou. Most so Bepo, his minkman (talking bipedal animal people, Bepo is a polar bear,) navigator and friend of ten years. Not much is known about their relationship, but Law states that he trusts Bepo implicitly and in turn Bepo is incredibly devoted to Law.

Of course, on top of being a pirate, Law is a doctor. While he's not as outwardly pleasant as you might expect from that profession, he does have the heart (haha) for it deep down. While on Punk Hazard with Luffy to kidnap one of Doflamingo's subordinates Caesar Clown, Law insists that anything else Luffy might want to do isn't his business, but nonetheless helps look into a cure for the children Caesar was using as experiements and later is the one responsible for curing them. This is even more true if it's people he actually knows and maybe even likes. It's implied he didn't expect to survive his mission of taking out Doflamingo, and he left his crew behind so they wouldn't end up killed or captured along with him. As well, when he was caught by Doflamingo, he insisted his alliance with the Straw Hat pirates was over as to insist he didn't know where they were and prevent Doflamingo from finding them. Basically, if Law cares about someone's well-being at all, he's more likely to throw himself under the bus before risking danger for them, if he can help it. To the point where it can even seem rude, such as greeting Luffy coming to his rescue with a reply more akin to “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE I TOLD YOU WE'RE NOT ALLIES ANYMORE" than “thank you for rescuing me" because he's nothing if not rough around the edges.

Struck with an incurable, terminal disease, Law was a bitter and unfriendly child under the wing of the Donquixote pirates, knowing he was going to die in three years. Likely the only reason he isn't a thoroughly bitter adult is because of the bond he had with Doflamingo's brother Rosinante, who stole Law away and spent months trying to find a cure for his disease before finally they were able to secure the Op Op Fruit, which cured Law's disease. Despite the short time they were together, Rosinante left a very obvious impact and obvious impact on Law, as he named his pirate crew after Rosinante's code name Corazón (Spanish for heart) and dedicated thirteen years to eventually getting revenge on Doflamingo for killing him. Essentially, Law was a nice, kind boy that got the bitter surliness curbstomped into him by his life circumstances. But he's doing alright, for now.

ABILITIES:

- Fighting abilities: While Law was under the care of the Donquixote pirates, Law was trained in martial arts, swordplay, and marksmanship. As an adult, Law is strong enough to wield his oversized nodachi one-handed and block powerful attacks with it. He has high enough endurance to keep moving after having his arm severed.
- Medical expertise: Law was trained to be a doctor from an incredibly young age, as the son of one of the best doctors in his home country. He's shown to be a skilled doctor on multiple occasions, bringing Luffy back from the bring of death from serious injuries with his treatment and performing surgery on a group of children to remove a harmful drug from their systems (“that's not how drugs or the human body work," you say. “Welcome to One Piece," I say.)
- Devil Fruit ability: Law ate the Op Op Fruit, and uses the abilities it gives him both in combat and in his work as a doctor. The ability gives Law to manipulative anything within the confines of his “operating room," thus the name. While this makes it an incredibly dangerous ability, unlike other devil fruit abilities, using the ability too much will deplete Law's stamina and shorten his lifespan.
- Room: The key technique for Law's abilities is Room, the “operating room" within his abilities work. When Law activates ROOM, it creates a transparent dome that can vary in size, from a couple yards to spanning several buildings. However, the larger Room he creates, the more effort it takes on Law's part. All of Law's devil fruit techniques are unusable outside of the confines of Room.
- Amputate: on of Law's principle techniques both in combat and as a doctor. This technique allows Law to cut things without harming them, including people. Even if Room has been deactivated, the effects remain and things severed by this technique remain unharmed. As well, severed pieces can be reattached simply by sticking them together. In battle Law uses this technique to incapacitate or disable the enemy without killing them. This is the technique that gained him the epithet “Surgeon of Death." He does in fact also use this technique in his role as a doctor, as it allows him to gain access to internal injuries without risking further injury to the patient.
- Shambles: This ability allows Law to swap the position of anyone and anything with something else. He's used this to do everything from sending chaos into enemy forces (once using it in combination with Amputate to mix around a group of Marines as if they were little lego guys), to pulling himself and allies out of danger. He's even shown to be able to use it on non-physical objects, shown when he swaps the personalities/minds of the straw hat pirates around into different bodies.
- Tact: An ability equivalent to telekinesis, Law can lift and manipulate objects from small rocks to a Marine battleship, as long as they remain within the confines of Room. He can use this technique on people as well as objects, but doesn't seem to be able to do more than levitate on larger objects and people, whereas he's been seen to actually turn small rocks into projectiles with this ability.
- Mes: Arguably Law's signature ability due to how bizarrely specific it is, and a subset of Amputate, Mes allows Law to very literally steal people's hearts. By touching his target's chest, Law can expel a clear cube containing the victims heart, and leaving a square hole in their chest. As with Amputate, the victim is unharmed, however the cube is soft and Law (or anyone else holding it) can cause extreme distress to the victim by squeezing on the heart cube. Putting the heart back in the square hole reverses the technique.
- Counter Shock: With this technique, Law basically becomes a weaponized defibrillator, meaning he needs to touch the target's chest to effectively use the attack. Unlike an actual defibrillator, he can use this with just one hand. I can't explain where the electrical current comes from, it just happens. Welcome to One Piece.
- Injection Shot: Law points his sword at his target and “fires" at them, like a gun. I don't know what it is that hits them, but it causes an injury like a bullet would and hits with some force.
- Radio Knife: An attack that combines Amputate with Counter Shock, Law slices the target into several pieces while delivering an electric shock. This seems to (at least temporarily) prevent the target from immediately reassembling if they're able to do so, making it a stronger technique than Amputate on its own.
- Gamma Knife: Unlike his other techniques, Law doesn't use his sword for this one, rather creates a sort of blade of energy with his hand and stabs the enemy with it. Gamma Knife leaves no external signs of damage; however, it inflicts serious damage on internal organs and is stated to be incredibly powerful move.

INVENTORY:
Kikoku (Law's signature oversized sword), spare bandages.

NETWORK SAMPLE:
[There's a slight delay where Law's just frowning into the feed, but before it gets too awkward, Law does open his mouth.]

There's many people I haven't spoken to yet, so this may be unnecessary but… If you're ever in need of medical assistance, I am a doctor. [Sighs slightly. With this scowl, the furry hat, and the earrings, he's certainly low on the scale of “professional looking doctors," but here we are.]

I'm willing to offer my services as long as it's something that'll effect your performance on missions.
I don't care if you have a deathwish, don't endanger the rest of us because of your foolishness. But if you have an upset stomach just take an anti-acid and don't waste my time.
